My Top 5 Leave-in Conditioners For Natural Hair

While writing this post, I realized that all the products are under 5000 Naira ($10), it got me wondering why people are always complaining that “having natural hair is expensive”. Once you find the right products for your hair, you really do not have to break the bank to maintain healthy hair. These products are my absolute favorites that have been of great help on my natural hair journey and I’ve gone through at least 2 tubs/bottles of each. I use the Liquid – Cream – Oil (LCO) method to moisturize my hair and Leave-in conditioners are the creams I use. So far, these are my favorites: Continue reading “My Top 5 Leave-in Conditioners For Natural Hair”

Scalp Massage 101

I love scalp massages whether they are done using the tip of my fingers or my Ultimate Grow Scalp Massager from SavvyChic/NaijaHairCanGrow. I’m currently dealing with traction alopecia (story for another post, coming soon) and scalp massages are now an important part of my daily hair care routine. If you aren’t already getting scalp massages done, I’m going to be highlighting why and how you can.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MARA CRUIZ ORGANICS ADULT HAIR CARE KIT X GIVEAWAY

Mara Cruiz Organics is a Nigerian owned brand that specializes in producing natural products for hair and skin care. I was fortunate to receive their entire adult hair care range for my personal use and another set to gift a lucky person who would be able to share my experience. The first thing that endeared me to this brand is the affordability and lovely smell! A lot of people I’ve come across are always eager to try indigenous brands but then get put off by the ridiculous prices. The ingredients for each products are safe for natural hair and to prevent this post from being tiresome, I’ve included links to view the complete list of ingredients for each product. They also have a child friendly range specially formulated  to care for children’s hair.

How I Care For My Braids & Weaves

I’ve gotten a lot of questions on how I care for my hair beneath braids/twists and weaves, although I have no strict regimen for that, I’ll try  to be as detailed as possible in this post. Before I got the Dark and Lovely Braids n Weaves hair care line (which was an answer to a silent prayer), my regimen consisted mostly of just spraying with water and oiling, I tried getting dry shampoos over here because sometimes I just don’t want to get your braids/weaves wet from shampooing/washing with water, the closest I got to a dry shampoo was Batiste from Jumia and it didn’t work well with my hair. I’ve used the Dark and Lovely range and it does exactly what I want it to do.

DIY: Scalp Exfoliator

As a huge fan of co-washing, I tend to accumulate tons of products and dead cells on my scalp which does nothing to help hair growth. Recently, I discovered ‘scalp exfoliating’ which not only cleanses your scalp thoroughly, but also gets rid of dead skin cells on the scalp.

I shampoo regularly, is this necessary?

Yes! It is necessary. Sometimes, shampooing gets rid of product build up but not always excess oil, natural sebum and dead skin cells which can clog your hair pores and prevent growth.

Wash That Weave !

HAPPY NEW MONTH YOU GUYSS

CONGRATULATIONS ON OUR NEW PRESIDENT NIGERIANS

It’s my birthday month too, I’ll be a year older on the 11th, which is another Election Day coincidentally. Last month made this blog a year old! I think a giveaway is in order and I’ll let you guys know as soon as possible.

Now on to the matter of the day, if you’re one of the ladies that believe once you get a sew-in weave, you’re free from all wash day duities, stop reading this and apologize to your hair and weaves (seriously). Sometimes you pass by some females and the stench from the weaves just make you want to stop breathing (this used to be me 3 years back, welp). On Monday, I finished from school early and decided to wash my weave, I had been postponing this for about 2 days. It’s a short weave so you might want to make out a day to wash longer weaves or use the dry shampoo method; I’ll put up a post on that later.
