Weekend Getaway In Lagos: Jaybee Beach Camp At Tarkwa Bay

As with most adventures that involve money leaving my pocket these days, Cassie brought up the idea of going to Jaybee Beach Camp to spend a night camping on the beach, having fun by a bonfire and just generally forgetting the daily struggle that comes with living in Lagos.

It didn’t fit into my budget at the time so we decided to shift the staycation to August. Come August, we started calculating the cost of the staycation and it didn’t fit into both our budgets so we decided to throw it open like we did The Lakehouse Vacation and after a few back and forths, increasing our original number of 5 because quite a number of people were interested, we had more women join us to share the cost and fun.

Budget-friendly Lakehouse Vacation in Ouidah, Benin Republic

This Lakehouse was love at first sight and I just knew I had to visit upon seeing pictures of it. After calculating the cost of a road trip from Lagos to Ouidah, cost of the Lakehouse and adding other miscellaneous expenses including tours, tips and souvenirs, I knew the only way a weekend vacation here wouldn’t leave me in penury was if I went with other people. If you’re living on a budget like I am but still like to travel, you’ll understand. I put the word out on Twitter that I needed travel buddies, selected a few people from the replies I got, created a Whatsapp group and we were on our way three months later! Day Trip To Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, Ogun State

Last December, I went on a group trip organized by Jadesola of The Bourgie Life to visit the renowned Olumo Rock. Now if you had your primary and/or secondary/high school education in Nigeria, chances are you’ve been to Olumo Rock on one of those organized school excursions. I went while in Secondary School too and honestly, both experiences are incomparable.

Exploring Epe Mangroves

It’s funny how I’ve lived in Lagos all twenty-something years of my life and there is so much I’m yet to discover about this state. A trip to Epe Mangroves with Cassie opened my eyes to the divide between living in Urban and Rural Lagos, it’s almost like you’re transported to a different state entirely. We planned this trip at different times with different groups of people but eventually ended up going on our own.

48 Hours In Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria

During the October Independence long weekend holiday, I dragged my friend along on a road trip from Lagos to Ekiti State. The journey was unexpectedly long and tiring, we even considered going back to Lagos halfway through the journey. At a point, I got scared and had to call fellow blogger Tosinto find out if she had the same experience on her frequent trips to the area. I’ve tried to do a brief breakdown in case you ever want to visit the area, I also listed all the places we visited and put the info of our helpful cab driver; Mr Deji who took us round the town. Restaurant Review: Peppercorn Avenue

I’m always on the lookout for new places to eat in Lagos and my friend J has become my accomplice/ partner-in-crime on these hunts. I came across Peppercorn Avenue on LostInLagos, they are the plug for discovering new places to hang out in Lagos. We went at night and got lost because I’m totally clueless when it comes to directions and we forgot to use Google Map but we found our way back there in no time.

Road Trip from Lagos, Nigeria to Accra, Ghana

I’ve always wanted to travel to Accra, Ghana via road for the longest time. I’ve tried planning a trip with my mum (who was adamant about using flight, so cancelled) and different group of friends but it always got cancelled due to one reason or the other. When I saw that Cassie was planning a trip to Ghana, I decided to jump on it, after going back and forth and nearly cancelling, we did it! 5 Places to Visit When in Accra, Ghana

When Cassie and I were in Ghana, we tried to do as many tourist-y things as possible and visit as many places in Accra as we could in 2 full days. Now, you’re not going to find anything about Ghana jollof or food in this post because either the one place we tried it were having a bad day on that particular day or it’s just not worth talking about, you choose. These places were my absolute favorites, we visited other places you might not find on this list but must have seen if you follow me on Instagram
