Hot Oil Treatment

Ayyyy
I think the correct term should be ‘warm oil treatment’. Anyway, as promised in a previous post, I overcame my laziness and did the oil treatment before I had my braids done. I had to go home suddenly so I made do with products I could lay my hands on at home. Sadly, I dont have pictures from the whole process; my phone was acting up and I was nowhere near a laptop.

What I Used
Water
Olive Oil
Coconut Oil
Gentelle Peach Blush Conditioner
Shower cap
Silk Scarf

Benefits
Olive oil works as a moisturizer
Coconut oil preserves protein properties in hair
Adds shine
Softens and strengthens hair
Helps with dandruff and itchy scalp

I put equal amounts of olive oil and coconut oil in a plate and warmed it up in the microwave. Next I massaged it onto my damp hair and scalp, donned on a shower cap, wrapped the shower cap with a scarf and let it sit for an hour while I watched a movie. Getting the oil out of my hair was no easy task, there was no shampoo in sight and the conditioner had minimal effect, I had to use one third of the bottle to get my hair where I wanted it. My hair was super soft afterwards and I noticed a bit of shine since I have very dull hair.

P.S: Who’s going to be attending Mente de Moda at Maddox today? Link up? 🙂
